The Dwightmare is Over

Finally, we can stop talking about this. As ESPN reported, Dwight Howard is a Laker. In a four team trade, D12 gets his wish as he leaves Orlando for the bright lights of Los Angeles. Although the deal can't be finalized until Friday, here is a breakdown of the trade according to sources:

Orlando Magic get: Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless, Protected future 1st round draft picks from all three teams

Denver Nuggets get: Andre Iguodala

Philadelphia 76ers get: Andrew Bynum, Jason Richardson

Los Angeles Lakers get: Dwight Howard

WHAT?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

This is seriously the best deal the Magic could have made? Three of the four teams got significantly better from this trade and the Magic got trade raped. Out of all the players involved in this trade, the Magic traded the best player only to end up with the 4th and 5th best players, two prospects, and 3 horrendous draft picks. New Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, a product of the San Antonio and Oklahoma City front office is trying to build a team through the draft. The three draft picks Orlando received from this trade are likely going to be late first rounders considering all three teams made it to the playoffs last year. Also, the Magic didn't even shed salary with this trade. Afflalo has 4 years and 30 million left on his contract while Harrington has 3 years and 20 million left on his. The Magic did not achieve their goals of acquiring young assets or financial flexibility. Hopefully there is more to this trade then first reported. If not, Orlando just gift wrapped a championship for the Lakers.
